# Amorously Passionate Figurines Artist Parra Reveals the Intricacies of Love with His Sculpture By Ariel Weber | Published 2013-01-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artist-parra References: [highsnobiety](http://www.highsnobiety.com/2013/01/14/pierced-shades-of-grey-vinyl-sculpture-by-parra/) & [blog.kidrobot](http://blog.kidrobot.com/product-preview-pierced/) Inspired by the incredibly successful romance novel '50 shades of Grey,' artist Parra has released his own version of steamy and complex romance entitled 'Pierce.' The [10-inch vinyl sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nina-chanel-abney-bravo) depicts a couple in a [deep and passionate embrace](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pure-passion-perfume). The two characters are crafted in the iconic style the artist is so well known for. What is particularly interesting about this sculpture is despite the fact that they are cartoonized and doll-like figures, they are still able to reveal a deep sense of love and the complications and contradictions that love provides. This idea also goes along with why this art piece is intended to be seen from all angles as one viewpoint displays an ecstatic and intimate moment, while another view portrays a much more brutal display of power and control. Artist Parra successfully evokes this intense feeling while paying homage to an extremely successful romance novel franchise. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Romantic Vinyl Sculptures:** Craft visually striking sculptures aimed at portraying intense romantic feelings. - **Cartoonized Art:** Bring humanity to doll-like figures in art with powerful and nuanced emotions. - **Multidimensional Art:** Create art pieces intended to be seen from multiple angles, revealing different yet complementary messages. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** Introduce visually stimulating designs in art as an expression of intense emotions. - **Publishing:** Tap into popular franchises to create unique products that appeal to their loyal fan base. - **Collectibles and Toys:** Create unique collectibles and toys that appeal to adult audiences looking for sophisticated pieces that hold emotional value. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Love-Inspired Miniature Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/love-in-a-bottle.md) - [Sea-Inspired Mini Sculpture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-sculptures.md) - [Glamorous Artful Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-jane.md) - [Striking Sculptural Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculpture-candle.md) - [Exquisitely Artistic Vase Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/so-many-dreams.md) - [Personalized Artful Vinyl Figurines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/send-yourself-nowhere.md) - [Art Sculpture Miniature Replicas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/love-replica.md) - [Playful Coffee-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/andrew-rae.md) - [Artful Anime-Blending Split Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-bust.md)
