# Reflective Art Studio Extensions Chen + Suchart Studio Create a Glazed Extension for a Modern Home By Kalin Ned | Published 2018-09-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-studio-extension References: [dezeen](https://www.dezeen.com/2018/09/17/little-art-studio-chen-suchart-desert-paradise-valley-arizona/) & [chensuchartstudio](https://www.chensuchartstudio.com/) A reflective art studio extension has been added to a contemporary desert home in Paradise Valley, Phoenix. Designed by local architecture firm [Chen + Suchart Studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-stainlesssteel), the unit boasts a fully glazed construction with "large sheets of [reflective glass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-gesso) and silver-hued weathering steel." The aesthetic of the exterior communicates a minimalist approach to design and it is evident that the firm aimed to agreeably insert the art studio extension not only in the composition of the contemporary home but also with reference to the surrounding landscape. On one hand, Chen + Suchart Studio effortlessly distinguish the structural addition from the main volume which contributes to a strong but fluid juxtaposition of materials. On the other hand, the glazed exterior of the art studio extension makes for a beautifully responsive structure that feeds off its desert surroundings.
