Michigan-based artist Math Monahan created [braided book installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/design-tradition) entitled 'Between,' which showcases books bounded beautifully with one another to bring about something different in the art scene. The artworks are braided in a similar manner as a French braid, but a number of the displays aren't actually bounded together, letting the pages unwind over a period of time. Monahan's projects cover such aspects as photography, [book art sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amusebouche) and installations. With a BFA from the [Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spring-starts) as a Drawing major, it shouldn't surprise us of how talented this artist truly is. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Braided Book Installations:** Incorporating different materials and techniques into book displays can bring new and unique experiences to the art world. - **Unconventional Art Sculptures:** Using non-traditional materials and mediums in art can create disruptive and innovative pieces that capture the audience's attention. - **Interactive Art Displays:** Incorporating movement and change into art installations can provide viewers with an immersive experience. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Exploring unconventional materials and integrating new techniques into the art and design industry can provide new opportunities for creativity and innovation. - **Publishing:** Incorporating unique book designs and installations can elevate the publishing industry and provide a new way for readers to appreciate literature. - **Event Planning:** Integrating interactive art displays can bring a fresh and exciting element to event planning and set one’s events apart from competition. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Sculptural Knitted Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-knitted-objects.md) - [Breathtaking Woven Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-installation.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [Sophisticated Upcycled Home Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basket-sculptures.md) - [Geometric Wooden Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aleph-geddis.md) - [Sculptural Experimental Artforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ladder-series.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Revolving Bright Kinetic Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/library-of-light.md)
