# Illusory Hovering Tree Art This Cleverly Painted Art on Trees Augments the Tree's Appearance By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2014-01-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-on-trees References: [streetartutopia](http://www.streetartutopia.com/?p=13265) & [facebook](https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152143710347700&set=p.10152143710347700&type=1&ref=nf) This incredible art on trees by Daniel Siering and Mario Shu augments the appearance of a tree to make it seem as if it is floating in mid air. From a distance, the illusion is completely mind-blowing. The street artists wrapped a cloth around a portion of the tree and were able to make it seem like the middle section of the tree disappeared by painting the scenery behind it on the cloth. At the top of the cloth, the tree is made to seem like it has been cut in half and now magically floating above the trunk. The image isn’t perfect, but the accuracy of the horizon line is spot on and this really makes the amazing illusion seem credible. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Graffiti](https://www.trendhunter.com/graffiti) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Illusory Tree Art:** Street artists are using optical illusions to augment the appearance of trees. - **Cloth Wrapping:** Using cloth to wrap selected parts of a tree is becoming a trend in street art. - **Augmented Reality Art:** Blending physical and digital art to create illusions is a growing trend. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art:** The art industry can benefit from new optical techniques to create unique physical and digital art. - **Tourism:** Public art installations can attract tourists and create memorable experiences for visitors. - **Tech:** Innovative techniques to blend physical and digital art can create new opportunities for tech companies to develop augmented reality technologies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Resin Gravity Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-great-tree.md) - [Kinetic Optical Illusion Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-woodflow.md) - [Monumental Air Installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iwagumi-air-scape.md) - [Optical Illusion Replica Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liberty-science-center.md) - [Artful Elevated Timber Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/secret-camp.md) - [Delicate Illusory Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aria-light.md) - [Sculptural Gravity Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench.md) - [Inflatable Vibrant Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-dancer.md) - [Vaulted Structural Telescopic Treehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistree-home.md)
