# Sitcom-Inspired Portraits Jeff Mitchell's Arrested Development Art is Both a Satire and a Tribute By | Published 2013-05-24 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arrested-development-art References: [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/150463049/arrested-developments-fistful-of-bananas?ref=sr_gallery_35&ga_search_query=arrested) & [jeffmitch](http://jeffmitch.com/) Jeff Mitchell's fabulously realistic Arrested Development art offers the perfect way to celebrate the new season. Using mixed media, Mitchell depicts three Bluths in wildly comedic positions. Buster is shown having his "incident" with a sheep, looking a little bit scared. Michael is painted wearing a banana suit, his typical ironic half-smile on his squinting face. Finally, Tobias is shown as his blue man alter-ego, tears softly running down his blue-hued cheeks. This is a reference to Tobias's mistaking a men's depression support group for the Blue Man Group -- and also because he tends to cry a lot. Each of these portraits is a [mixed media creation on semi-gloss paper](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition) and, if purchased, will include a certificate of authenticity. These aren't prints; they are unique [pop culture paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portrait-mom) that are one-of-a-kind. While lots of [fan-made Arrested Development Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brooklyn-ninenine) is available around the web, Jeff Mitchell's creations are truly original. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Humor](https://www.trendhunter.com/humor) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Pop Culture Art:** Creating unique and original artwork inspired by popular TV shows and movies presents an opportunity for artists to tap into a niche market. - **Mixed Media Creations:** Using a combination of different materials and techniques to create artwork opens up possibilities for innovative and visually captivating pieces. - **Fan-made Art:** The demand for fan-made artwork based on beloved TV shows and movies provides an opportunity for artists to cater to passionate fan communities. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can embrace and promote the creation of unique pop culture artwork, tapping into the interests of fans and collectors. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can collaborate with artists to bring their favorite TV show and movie characters to life through unique and captivating art pieces. - **Ecommerce:** eCommerce platforms can cater to the demand for fan-made artwork by providing a marketplace for artists to showcase and sell their original creations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Limited Humorous Art Prints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-shrigley-1.md) - [Pixelated Streaming Series Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stranger-things-litebrite-deluxe-wall-art.md) - [Uniquely Designed Artistic Wallpapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistic-wallpaper.md) - [Playful Balloon Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keff-joons.md) - [Sitcom-Inspired Figurine Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-people-collector-set.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Collectible Character Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arr-x-kaws-sesame-street.md) - [Deconstructed Pop Art NFTs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/matt-gondek.md) - [Artful Motion Toy Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nina-chanel-abney-bravo.md)
