# Motion-Sensing Lighting The Area Lamp by Holy Trinity Brightens as Beckoned by the Hand By Meghan Young | Published 2013-08-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/area-lamp References: [holytrinity-lights](https://www.holytrinity-lights.com/de/design-lampe/area/) & [holytrinity-lights](https://www.holytrinity-lights.com/de/) The Area Lamp is a modern light fixture that is controlled by hand motions. As though the next step after touch and clapping activated lights, it almost looks as though the Area Lamp were being operated through magic. At least, that is a story parents can wow their children with. Designed by Holy Trinity, a German studio founded by Matthias Pinkert, the Area Lamp takes on a sleek and simple form that would be perfect for any contemporary home or office. Although originally designed as a modular under-cabinet lamp, it is flexible enough to be used elsewhere as well. Outfitted with LEDs, the Area Lamp could pave the way for more motion-sensored designs in the home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Motion-sensored Lighting:** The use of motion-sensored lighting technology enables intuitive and convenient control of indoor lighting. - **Magic-activated Lighting:** The development of lighting fixtures that appear to be operated through magic creates a sense of wonder and novelty for consumers. - **Modular Lighting Designs:** The adoption of modular lighting designs allows for adaptable and versatile use in various spaces and environments. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Lighting:** The home lighting industry can explore motion-sensored lighting solutions to enhance user experience and energy efficiency. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating magic-activated lighting fixtures into interior design projects can add a unique and captivating element to spaces. - **Smart Home Technology:** The integration of motion-sensored lighting technologies in smart home systems opens up opportunities for seamless automation and customization. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interactive Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tap-tap-table-lamp.md) - [Interactive Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp.md) - [Touch-Enhanced Glass Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bolita.md) - [Hat-Like Fabric Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-lamp.md) - [Adjustable Sculptural Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp.md) - [AR Projector Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beamar-pendant-lamp.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md) - [Foldable Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-folding-lamp.md) - [Shape-Shifting Modular Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moodi.md)
