The latest installment features [Bureau Spectacular](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uxbridge-bower) architects Joanna Grant and Jimenez Lai. The brief called for a design that is informed by adidas' recently released P.O.D.System shoe model — a pair of high-performance footwear. Bureau Spectacular's response to the playful architecture challenge is absolutely whimsical. It boasts a toy-style multifunctional structure. Full of color and shapes, Grant and Lai deliver a "1:100 scale model of a conceptual mixed-used development" that boasts a group of high-rises. In addition, the two architects make their creation functional. The fantastical structure can double down as a [cat tower](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-for-dogs-exhibition) — a definite benefit for furry companions. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.6/10 - Popularity: 97% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Playful Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of playful and whimsical designs in architecture to create unique and engaging spaces. - **Multifunctional Structures:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design structures that serve multiple purposes, combining functionality and aesthetics to provide added value. - **Conceptual Mixed-use Development:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative concepts for mixed-use developments that incorporate creative and imaginative elements to enhance the overall experience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Embrace whimsical and playful designs in architecture to create unique and memorable structures that stand out in the industry. - **Footwear:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with architects and designers to incorporate elements from shoe models into the design of footwear, offering innovative and distinctive products. - **Pet Products:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the integration of functional and visually appealing elements in pet products, such as cat towers, to provide added value and enhance the pet ownership experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Colorful High-Density Residential Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highdensity-residential-design.md) - [Billowing Modular Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curly-cube.md) - [Playful Contemporary Offices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-contemporary-office.md) - [Neon Illustation-Donned Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crafted-world-exhibition-1.md) - [Creative Pop-Up Hubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/creative-popup-hub.md) - [Curvaceous Artful Play Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/play-pavilion.md) - [Vibrantly Artful Playful Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/play-pavilion-1.md) - [Colorful Creative Workspaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/podimo-office.md) - [Vertical Creative Hubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puma-studio-los-angeles.md)
