Situated on a [sloping plot](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-the-slope) in Portugal, the residence demonstrates how topography can serve as both inspiration and foundation for architectural form rather than being treated as an obstacle to overcome. As part of the design for the architectural intervention, OODA created a [central patio as an organizing element](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patio-house-residence) that mediates between the natural landscape and built spaces while creating distinct zones for social and private functions. Strategic use of level changes and half-buried elements allows the structure to blend with its surroundings but still maintain dramatic visual connections through transparent sections that dissolve boundaries between interior and exterior. The incorporation of a water feature addresses practical lighting concerns and adds a contemplative dimension to the entrance sequence.
