Artist Damien Hirst teamed up with [Snapchat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snapchat-3) to create a first-of-its-kind AR art experience that gives app users the chance to make their own [colorful paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pointillism) with just their Snapchat camera. Hirst started his Spin Painting series in 1994 and the pieces have gone on to become some of the artist's most well-known works of art. While there are DIY spin paintings that can be created at home with a manual or motorized spinning contraptions that yields great results, it goes without saying that the activity is a messy one.

Thanks to the partnership between Snapchat and Hirst, the Snapchat community can now create their very own spin paintings with an [augmented reality lens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xbox-and-snapchat). The experience lets users pour paint onto a circular surface, spin their creation and then share it to a virtual gallery.
