# Aquarium-Cleaning Robots 'MOAI' is a Robotic System That Cleans and Monitor's One Fish Tank By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2017-09-05 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquarium-cleaning References: [digitaltrends](https://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/moai-fish-tank-cleaner/) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/moai/moai-robot-for-your-aquarium) MOAI is a smart aquarium-cleaning system that doubles as a camera that keeps tabs on one's fish. MOAI connects to one's home WiFi system, making it possible for one to take hold of their smartphone and tour around the inside of their own aquarium like a fish. The system offers 24/7 livestreaming and also helps aquarium owners set their favorite spots within the tank as "bookmarks" to be viewed time and time again. Once added to an aquarium, MOAI helps to prevent the [buildup of algae on the glass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bionic-dual-vision-pool-cleaner) and offers features like [smart docking and scheduled cleaning](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roboturtle). As the system is easy-to-use and time-saving, MOAI has already surpassed its initial crowdfunding campaign goal on [Kickstarter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguins-innovate-white-rabbit). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [AI](https://www.trendhunter.com/ai) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Smart Aquarium Systems:** The rise of smart aquarium systems like MOAI presents opportunities for integrating technology into fish tank maintenance and monitoring. - **Live Streaming in Aquariums:** The inclusion of 24/7 livestreaming capabilities in aquarium systems like MOAI opens up new possibilities for remote viewing and interaction with aquatic ecosystems. - **Automation in Aquarium Cleaning:** The development of robotic systems like MOAI for algae removal and scheduled cleaning disrupts traditional manual cleaning methods in aquarium maintenance. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Smart Home Technology:** The integration of MOAI into home WiFi systems highlights the potential for smart home technology to extend to aquarium management and monitoring. - **Live Streaming Platforms:** Live streaming features in smart aquarium systems like MOAI create opportunities for collaboration with online platforms dedicated to livestreaming and remote viewing. - **Robotic Cleaning Technology:** The development of robotic systems like MOAI for aquarium cleaning showcases the potential for automation in the cleaning technology industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Automated Ocean-Cleaning Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jellyfishbot.md) - [Self-Cleaning Pool Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beatbot-aquasense-x-ai-robotic-pool-cleaner.md) - [Robotic Pool Cleaning Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robotic-pool-cleaning-device.md) - [Self-Removing Robotic Pool Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mammotion-spino-s1-pro.md) - [Aquarium Cleaning Tool Scrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rollingreef.md) - [Robotic Pool Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquasense-2-series.md) - [Swimming Pool Maintenance Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swimming-pool-maintenance.md) - [Autonomous Hovering Pool Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rover-x10.md) - [Maintenance-Free Vacuum Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shark-powerdetect.md)
