# Herbicide-Launching Guns This Paintball-Like Gun Allows You To Apply Herbicide In Difficult Areas By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2016-08-12 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apply-herbicide References: [newatlas](http://newatlas.com/mistletoe-pesticide-gun/44865/) & [invdes.mx](http://www.invdes.com.mx) A group of engineers and researchers working out of the INECOL institute over in Mexico have come up with a special mechanism that is designed to revolutionize the way people [apply herbicide to pest plants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spruce-weed-killer). Developed by a team led by professor Mayra del Angel, the system consists of a gun similar to those seen in paintball. Rather than paint, each of these guns comes fully equipped with special capsules that contain bio-herbicide that is capable of destroying and killing pests without hurting the host plant. The gun can shoot the capsules up to a height of up to 25 meters. This capsule-firing gun makes it easier to apply herbicide in hard-to-reach areas, making it easier for farmers to eradicate [pest infestations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sniper-hotshot-multipurpose-insect-killer) and ensure that their crops are healthy and blooming. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Bio-herbicide Capsules:** The use of bio-herbicide capsules in guns allows for targeted and efficient application of herbicide in hard-to-reach areas. - **Precision Herbicide Application:** The development of herbicide-launching guns enables precise and controlled application of herbicide, minimizing waste and improving effectiveness. - **Pest Control Innovation:** The implementation of herbicide-launching guns represents a disruptive innovation in pest control, providing farmers with a new and efficient tool to combat pest infestations. ### Who This Affects Most - **Agriculture:** The agriculture industry can benefit from the use of herbicide-launching guns to effectively control pests and protect crops. - **Biotechnology:** The biotechnology industry can explore the development of more advanced bio-herbicide capsules for use in herbicide-launching guns, improving effectiveness and environmental sustainability. - **Pest Management:** The pest management industry can adopt herbicide-launching guns as a new and innovative tool to offer more effective pest control services to their clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Weed Management Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weed-management.md) - [Autonomous Weed-Control Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/large-plant-model.md) - [Sea Salt-Powered Herbicides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sea-saltpowered-herbicides.md) - [Pest-Slaying Agricultural Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pestslaying-agricultural-robot.md) - [Precision Robotic Weeding Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weeding-service.md) - [Sensor-Guided Fertilizer Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fertilizer-robot.md) - [Paintball-Shooting Security Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paintcam-home-security-system.md) - [Dual-Rotor Agricultural Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dualrotor-agricultural-drone.md) - [Pull-Behind Mechanical Weeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farmwise.md)
