# Fruit-Shaped Light Fixtures Apples & Pears Lightbulbs Are Pluckable and Portable By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-10-10 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apples-pears-lightbulbs References: [markuskayser](http://www.markuskayser.com/work/apples--pears/) Have you every looked closely at a standard lightbulb and though "gee, this resembles a pear?" Even if you haven't, while you consider this delightful lamp duo called Apples & Pears lightbulbs, an element of their inspiration may become evident. Designer Markus Kayser developed this set of delectable fixtures with the idea that lighting could become all the more accessible, and quite frankly more consumable. As such, he created the forms of an apple and a pear in resin using real fruit as the molds, allowing them to operate as independent light sources with rechargeable batteries. To juice them up, the user leaves them hanging from their stereo cable connectors so that they suspend as if from the branches of a tree. When required elsewhere, Apples & Pears lightbulbs can simply be plucked, palmed and relocated until their power has been completely eaten up. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 75% | Activity: 66% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Customizable Light Fixtures:** Creating light fixtures in unique and customizable shapes offers consumers the opportunity to express their personal style. - **Portable Lighting Solutions:** Designing light fixtures with rechargeable batteries enables users to easily move and position the lights according to their needs. - **Sustainable Design:** Using real fruit molds and rechargeable batteries in light fixtures promotes sustainable design practices by reducing waste and energy consumption. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate customizable light fixtures to enhance the aesthetic appeal of spaces and offer unique lighting solutions to their clients. - **Home Decor:** Home decor retailers can offer portable light fixtures as trendy and functional decor items that can be easily moved and arranged. - **Sustainable Living:** Brands focused on sustainable living and eco-friendly products can explore the use of natural materials and rechargeable batteries in their lighting designs to cater to environmentally-conscious consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Plant Pod-Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nature-inspired-pendant-light.md) - [Orange Peel Waste-Made Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apeel.md) - [Pear-Shaped Outdoor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-lamp1.md) - [Outlet-Equipped Workstation Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avro-pendant-lamp.md) - [Hanging Connected Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-pendant-light.md) - [Powered Pendant Illuminations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avro-pendant.md) - [Bubble-Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubbles-lighting-design.md) - [Mushroom-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humble-lights.md) - [Whimsical Glass Bubbled Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peeka.md)
