# Flexible Wireframe Fruit Bowls The Appler Offers Adaptable Storage for Fresh Food By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-07-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appler References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/kml/frame/1064069) When full, a fruit bowl can introduce a [rainbow of color into the kitchen](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tip-top-glass), but when it's not in use, it can simply take away valuable space on counter top. The Appler serves up a simple yet clever solution to this problem by presenting the consumer with a [retractable receptacle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbox-modular-shelving). Kamil Laszuk designed the Appler 'Parking for Fruits' prototype with two sticks of oak joined together by 12 curvy copper rods spaced 1 inch apart. Oranges, pears and apples can quite happily sit snugly on top. But instead of creating a fixed object, the connections between the wood and metal are loose enough to afford bending in the frame which essentially alters the size of the rack. When all of your fresh fruit has been eaten, the Appler can easily be [folded flat and put away](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldy). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 37% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Flexible Wireframe Fruit Bowls:** The trend of flexible wireframe fruit bowls presents an opportunity for innovative storage solutions that adapt to consumer needs. ### Where This Applies - **Kitchen Storage:** The kitchen storage industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities by creating adaptable and collapsible fruit bowl designs. - **Home Organization:** The home organization industry can leverage the trend of flexible wireframe fruit bowls by developing collapsible storage solutions for other household items. - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can incorporate flexible wireframe elements into their product offerings, providing adaptable storage solutions for small spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rotating Shopper Baskets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basket-concept.md) - [Compact Portable Dish Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dish-rack-2.md) - [Disappearing Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coilo.md) - [Mushroom-Based Fruit Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mycoworks-fruit-bowl.md) - [Flat-Packed Sleek Dish Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aurea.md) - [Multi-Functional Food Containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-food-container.md) - [Storage-Friendly Foldable Ham Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jamonero.md) - [Dynamic Colored Glass Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tip-top-glass.md) - [Undulating Fabric-Topped Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/groove-table-concept.md)
