# Kettle Teapots – When Water Boils, A Pattern Appears on the 'World Kitchen Tea Off' Winner When Water Boils, A Pattern Appears on the 'World Kitchen Tea Off' Winner By Strawberries and Champagne | Published 2009-04-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anyone-fancy-a-cuppa-vessel-idealations-award-winning-teapot-concept References: [mocoloco](http://mocoloco.com/archives/010811.php) & [vesselideation](http://www.vesselideation.com/) The *2009 World Kitchen Tea Off* design winner is a brilliant new way to boil, brew and serve your tea. The teapot looks like a plain white vase until you fill it with water and place it on the stove to boil. As the water warms up, a design appears around the center of the vessel. Once the design has fully appeared, you know your tea is ready to serve. The teapot comes with a magnetic trivet that allows it to be placed directly on the table where you are serving the tea. As the trivet is heat activated, it simply drops off the base of the vessel once it has cooled. The tea can be poured directly from the pot, and so functions as both a kettle and a teapot. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Heat-activated Teapots:** The innovative design of heat-activated teapots creates an engaging and interactive tea brewing experience. - **Multifunctional Kettle Teapots:** Multifunctional kettle teapots combine the functionality of a kettle and a teapot, providing convenience for tea enthusiasts. - **Disappearing Design Teapots:** Disappearing design teapots offer a visually appealing way to indicate when the tea is ready to serve. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Appliance:** The home appliance industry can explore the potential of incorporating heat-activated features into teapots and other kitchen appliances. - **Kitchenware:** The kitchenware industry can capitalize on the demand for innovative and multi-functional teapots that enhance the tea brewing experience. - **Gift and Novelty:** The gift and novelty industry can leverage disappearing design teapots as unique and engaging gift options for tea lovers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stacked Tea Kettle Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stacked-tea-kettle.md) - [Playful Teapot Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teapot-design1.md) - [Automated Extraction Teapots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reedesigned-teapot.md) - [Modern Electric Kettles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gooseneck-kettles.md) - [Adjustable Temperature Kettles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/o-kettle.md) - [Timeless Teakettle Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timeless-teakettle.md) - [Tranquil Calming Kettle Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calm-kettle.md) - [Vibrantly Designed Tea Kettles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tea-kettle-collective.md) - [Style-Conscious Coffee Kettles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artisan-gooseneck-kettle.md)
