# Airy Metal Lighting ANWAR by Stephen Burks is Akin to Weaved Baskets By Meghan Young | Published 2014-07-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anwar-by-stephen-burks References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/parachilna-launches-lighting-stephen-burk-jaime-hayon/) & [parachilna.eu](http://www.parachilna.eu) At first glance, a person wouldn't be faulted for mistaking the pieces in ANWAR by Stephen Burks, an American industrial designer, for a modern take on weaved baskets. But instead of being made out of straw, these designs are made out of thin metal rods. And instead of being baskets, they are airy light fixtures. Large and sculptural, ANWAR by Stephen Burks was created for [Parachilna](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-house-of-making), a manufacturer based in Barcelona, Spain. With three different models, one that hangs from the ceiling, another for the floor and the last for tables, the lighting collection embraces "luxury by utilizing the best skilled craftsmen left in Europe and around the world," writes [Design Milk](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Woaw). Each one uses 96 steel rods. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Weaved Baskets Inspired Designs:** Opportunity for creating innovative products that mimic the aesthetics of weaved baskets using alternative materials. - **Airy Metal Lighting Fixtures:** Potential to revolutionize the lighting industry with lightweight and sculptural designs made from thin metal rods. - **Luxury Lighting Collections:** Disruption opportunity to redefine luxury lighting by combining skilled craftsmanship with innovative materials and designs. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Innovative use of materials and unique designs can create a new wave of lighting fixtures in the interior design industry. - **Home Decor:** Airy metal lighting fixtures can bring a modern and artistic touch to home decor, presenting new opportunities for designers and manufacturers. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can explore new production techniques and collaborate with skilled craftsmen to create high-end lighting collections with innovative designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Experimental Ancestral Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kawabi.md) - [Ultra-Chic Sculptural Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-lighting-design.md) - [Metal Thread Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-lamp.md) - [Sun-Lit Kite-Inspired Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cygnet-light.md) - [Sculptural Contemporary Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volant.md) - [Intricate Sculptural Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-pendant-light.md) - [Knitted Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knit-series.md) - [Statement Contemporary Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/filigrana-6.md) - [Woven Lighting Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gurunsi.md)
