The Italian artists Antonio Garullo and Mario Ottocento who created this sculpture, were also one of the first gay couples to marry in Amsterdam back in 2002. The former Italian president and media tycoon Silvio Berlusconi has often found himself in the spotlight for his controversial statements. The artists take Berlusconi's body, which is created out of silicone, to portray the former leader enclosed in a [shrine](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thomas-sankara-mausoleum). This is a tradition that is often seen in the [Catholic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luce) faith for preservation of saints or powerful heroes. The sculpture however has Berlusconi wearing oversized slippers with one of his hands down his unzipped pants with the other on the History of Italy. The artists named the piece 'Il sogno degli Italiani,' or what is translated as 'The Italian Dream,' in reference to one of the lines Berlusconi used to describe himself on a phone call with one of his girlfriends. The sculpture is being exhibited at the Ferrajoli Palace in Rome, and is only a few steps away from the residence of the Italian Prime Minister, Palazzo Chigi. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Political](https://www.trendhunter.com/political) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Political Satire Sculptures:** Creating sculptures that satirically represent political figures presents a disruptive innovation opportunity in the art world. - **Controversial Art Installations:** Exploring controversial and provocative themes through art installations provides a disruptive innovation opportunity to challenge societal norms. - **Using Cultural Traditions in Contemporary Art:** Incorporating traditional practices, such as creating shrines, in contemporary art offers a disruptive innovation opportunity to merge different cultural elements. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art Galleries:** Art galleries can showcase political satire sculptures, attracting attention and sparking important conversations. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can leverage controversial art installations to captivate audiences and generate discussions. - **Tourism:** Tourism industry can promote art exhibitions that incorporate cultural traditions, offering unique experiences for visitors. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Broken-Aesthetic Sculpture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brokenaesthetic-sculpture-collection.md) - [Luxury Fashion Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-fashion-sculpture.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Wooden Light-Hearted Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-sculpture.md) - [Minimalist Wooden Figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-wooden-figures.md) - [Design-Forward Funerary Urn Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/funerary-urn.md) - [Artful Anime-Blending Split Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-bust.md) - [Future-Facing Sculptural Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eye-of-the-future.md) - [Striking Glass Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-portraits.md)
