# Misplaced Monument Photography Anton Repponen Takes New York Structures Out of Natural Habitat By Meghan Young | Published 2016-04-24 | Fashion Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anton-repponen References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2016/04/22/misplaced-monuments-of-new-york-city-in-natural-landscapes/) & [work.repponen](http://work.repponen.com/) Anton Repponen imagines an alien world that is somewhat familiar to that found on Earth, but slightly different. That's because building from New York City appear to have picked up and left the metropolis in order to live out a quieter life in the middle of nowhere. Yet instead of looking strange, Anton Repponen's photoshopped images simply look futuristic. Dubbed Misplaced, Anton Repponen's latest [art project](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1) is masterfully created. From flawless lighting to overall [photo manipulation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/epic-ai-travel-photos), some people might be tricked into seeking out these monuments in real life. By displacing them, Anton Repponen encourages us to appreciate both [architecture in a different light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonhouse-project) as well as the planet in general. Landscapes can be drastically different than they are. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 31% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/fashion) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/stylephotography) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Displaced Architecture:** Opportunities for architects to re-imagine structures in unusual environments - **Futuristic Photography:** The use of photography and digital editing to create futuristic visions of familiar environments. - **Environmental Appreciation:** Encouraging people to see the world around them in a different way and appreciate the planet's diversity. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** The use of digital techniques to create new architectural designs and concepts - **Photography:** The use of digital manipulation to create unique and innovative photographic projects - **Environmental Conservation:** The promotion of appreciation and conservation of the natural world through creative projects like Misplaced. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Optical Illusion Replica Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liberty-science-center.md) - [Digital City-Inspired Art Works](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grand-central-station.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Interactive Architectural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape.md) - [AI-Generated Retrofuturistic Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retrofuturistic-objects.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Public Art Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-anthony-smith.md) - [Laser-Cut Urban Artistry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-cut-city-maps.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md)
