The lock works by being secured onto the laptop and locked onto a tabletop to keep it in place at all times. Unauthorized attempts to detach the laptop lock will sound a 100-decibel alarm to warn those around that a theft is in progress. The lock can only be deactivated by entering a three-digit PIN code. The 'LapLok' antitheft laptop device is lightweight, durable and easy to install, which makes it great for use in public workspaces or coffee shops. The semi-permanent design of the alarm system means it can be easily stowed when not in use. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 1% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 12% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Computers](https://www.trendhunter.com/computers) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Antitheft Laptop Accessories:** Opportunities for developing even more cutting-edge antitheft laptop accessories to cater to the growing need for remote workers to protect their mobile devices - **Iot-enabled Personal Security:** Next-generation devices that could be integrated into a user’s tech stack to monitor and detect unusual activity around personal workspaces - **Smart Bag Innovations:** Development of bags that combine security features like the 'LapLok' with other functionalities such as wireless charging to increase user convenience ### Who This Affects Most - **Technology Hardware:** Opportunities for technology hardware companies to innovate and improve laptop security solutions as the world of remote working continues to grow - **Office and Workspace Furnishings:** Development of security products for commercial and public spaces to accommodate the growing need for personal security and remote working setups - **Fashion and Accessories:** Opportunities to develop fashion-forward but secure bags equipped with antitheft features like 'LapLok' to cater to stylish remote workers ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Theft-Thwarting Laptop Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laptop-lock.md) - [Anti-Theft Backpack Straps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loopit.md) - [Pocket-Sized Safety Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaze.md) - [Data-Destroying Laptop Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buskill-usb-cord.md) - [Location-Tracking Luggage Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taglock-travel-lock.md) - [Portable Safety Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/armorsiren-portable-security-system.md) - [Smartphone Retail Security Tags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/safe-tag.md) - [Mobile Security System Sensors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-security-device.md) - [Laptop-Stowing Portable Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lapcase.md)
