# Stalagmite-Like Wooden Sculptures Artist Anthony Peer Carved a Cluster of Geometric Shapes By Meghan Young | Published 2014-01-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anthony-peer References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Sculpture/13332947) Anthony Peer, an industrial design student based in Hamilton, New Jersey, has created a visually striking sculpture that brings to mind stalagmite formations found in dark caverns and caves. But instead of being made out of rock and precious gems, Anthony Peer's sculpture has been carved out of wood. Full of high peaks, flat planes and a [cluster of geometric forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany), it is a stunning abstract work of art that would complement many domestic and public spaces. Finished with four metal legs, Anthony Peer's sculpture is at once warm and ominous. In a way, it could be likened to some sort of miniature fortress, yet the material softens its imposing appearance. Although no one would ever want to compromise its stature, the sculpture could easily double as a practical coat rack. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Wooden Sculptures:** The trend of creating visually striking sculptures using wood as the main material. - **Geometric Formations:** The trend of incorporating cluster of geometric shapes in art and design. - **Abstract Art:** The trend of embracing abstract works of art in domestic and public spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** The industry that offers opportunities to create innovative wooden sculptures and incorporate geometric formations in various art forms. - **Furniture and Home Decor:** The industry that can explore the use of wooden sculptures and abstract art to enhance domestic spaces. - **Interior Design:** The industry that can incorporate wooden sculptures and geometric formations to create visually striking and unique interior spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wooden Light-Hearted Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-sculpture.md) - [Artful Wooden Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knowledge-of-all-dark-things.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Wooden Identity Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hughmanity.md) - [Handcrafted Stone Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pebble-stool.md) - [Lobby Timber Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hotel-park-ave.md) - [Ceiba Tree-Inspired Spiked Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceiba-series.md) - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Futuristic Totemic Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-relics.md)
