The artist is concerned with both form and surface. Millea's furniture pieces are architectural elements joined by color. Complex surface treatments are often placed on [simple architectural forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touch-collections). The result is a visually interesting piece of functional art that blurs the line between form and function. **Implications** - With many consumers being saturated with a variety of modern products, individuals are now looking for retro designs with an up to date twist. Companies would be wise to take inspiration from these earlier time periods and incorporate these designs into their commodities for a unique twist. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Retro-modern Fusion:** Opportunity for companies to create products that combine retro design elements with modern functionality. - **Functional Art:** Growing demand for furniture and accessories that blur the line between form and function, creating opportunities for artists and designers. - **Architectural-inspired Furniture:** Increased interest in furniture pieces that feature simple architectural forms and complex surface treatments. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Opportunities for furniture designers to create unique pieces that merge artistic expression with functionality. - **Home Decor:** Demand for artistic and visually interesting home decor items such as pillows, lighting, and picture frames. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate architectural-inspired furniture into their designs to create visually appealing spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cork Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guillaume-delvigne.md) - [Bangladeshi-Inspired Playful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fico.md) - [Cutting-Edge Wearable Furnishings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cuttingedge-wearable-furnishings-mcm-wearable-casa-intersects-luxury-fashio.md) - [Pop Art-Inspired Bright Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henri-judin.md) - [Playful Structural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palma-collection.md) - [Artist-Honoring Bedroom Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/esquisses-collection.md) - [Charming Time Period-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/collection-i.md) - [Retro Colorful Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geometrica.md) - [Sculptural Avant-Garde Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interior-furniture.md)
