The Animal Friendly Trash Can explores this strategy, but instead of providing [different containers for recyclables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tacoma), the receptacle includes a compartment at the bottom for uneaten food. The garbage bin was conceived by Professor Bao Haimo, Xu Kun, He Chao, Jin Meina and Aori Gele with a compassion for [stray dogs and cats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jalashay). Considering that many abandoned pets become ill and even starve to death due to malnourishment, this metropolitan fixture can help to feed them. When you've had your fill of your takeout meal, just remove it from its packaging, discard that in the upper canister, and place the edibles in the chamber in the base where hungry creatures can clean it up. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Eco Disposal Strategy:** The trend of introducing garbage cans that encourage separating litter for more eco-friendly disposal. - **Animal Feeding Solution:** The trend of developing trash cans with compartments for uneaten food to feed stray animals. - **Urban Pet Welfare:** The trend of considering the well-being of abandoned pets in urban areas through innovative solutions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Waste Management:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing advanced waste management systems that prioritize eco-friendly disposal and animal feeding. - **Pet Food:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating pet food products using uneaten food collected from special trash cans designed to feed stray animals. - **Urban Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrating animal-friendly trash cans into the urban landscape to improve pet welfare and cleanliness. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Customizable Garbage Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/totem-compact-unit.md) - [Renewable Circular Trash Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mill.md) - [Upcycled Dog Foods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doggiebag.md) - [Electric Food Recyclers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foodcycler-eco-3.md) - [Chic Utilitarian Trash Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carden-the-twin.md) - [Adorable Public Rubbish Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/design-seoul-20.md) - [AI-Enabled Recycling Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartsort.md) - [Modular Organization Garbage Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-garbage-bins.md) - [Odorless Compost Kitchen Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mill-kitchen-bin.md)
