# Minimal Animal Rump Illustrations Peter Jostrand Created a Blog that Illustrates Animal Butts By Megan Facciuolo | Published 2014-04-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/animal-butts References: [designtaxi](http://designtaxi.com/news/365100/Flat-Butts-An-Off-Beat-Website-Devoted-To-Flat-Design-Icons-Of-Animal-Backsides/) & [flat-butts](http://www.flat-butts.com/) You would not typically imagine animal butts as the inspiration behind works of art; however, artist Peter Jostrand has started an off-beat blog that showcases [illustrations of them](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simple-drawing-ideas). The New York City-based art director designs the animals' posteriors in a minimal way so that they are humorous. The blog called ‘Flat Butts’ depicts exactly what it's name entails; the illustrations resemble "flattened" butts of animals. They are not at all realistic-looking, as they are [graphically illustrated](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/richard-scarry). They are colorful and minimally designed, so it might take you a few moments to notice which animal's backside Peter has created. Some of the [animal rumps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ark-collection) on the site include those of a tiger, piggy, deer, bumble bee and even fictional "animals" like Pokemon's Pikachu. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Minimal Animal Butt Illustrations:** Opportunity for artists to create unique and humorous artwork by designing minimalist animal butts. - **Humorous Graphic Design:** Opportunity for designers to create colorful and minimalist illustrations that incorporate humor. - **Off-beat Art Blogs:** Opportunity to create niche art blogs that showcase unconventional and humorous art, attracting a unique audience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can explore new possibilities of creating unconventional and humorous artwork. - **Digital Media:** Digital media platforms can feature and promote offbeat art blogs and artists, reaching a wider audience. - **Entertainment and Comedy:** Opportunity for comedians and entertainers to incorporate minimal animal butt illustrations into their acts, providing a unique element of humor. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Language App Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duolingo-4.md) - [Playful Cat Illustrations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/open-meow.md) - [Cheeky Hygiene Company Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/so-clean-you-can-kiss-it.md) - [Celebrity Padded Shapewear Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultimate-butt.md) - [Striking Urban Wildlife Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clare-allin.md) - [Artful Elevated Litter Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doggy-bathroom-1.md) - [Almost-Extinct Animal Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauna-series.md) - [Curved Minimal Chair Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-reappropriation.md) - [Limited Humorous Art Prints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-shrigley-1.md)
