# Crude X-Ray Illuminators Andrea Maestri Fashions a Lamp that Flips Off Its Users By Jason Soy | Published 2012-05-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/andrea-maestri References: [whokilledbambi](http://www.whokilledbambi.co.uk/2012/05/) & [maestriland](http://maestriland.com/andrea_maestri_fuckyou.htm) If you’re not accustomed to being given the middle finger, you will once you get your hands on one of these Andrea Maestri lamps. The funky illuminator is already noteworthy because of its [x-ray lampshade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foreshadow-table-lamp), but the most attention-grabbing aspect of the light is its silhouette of a hand flipping someone off. Yes, it’s crude, but it makes up for that by being doubly creative. The shade even rests on a studded stand resembling a [punk rock arm brace](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bottega-veneta-x-flos) to complete the rebellious look. Andrea Maestri named this furniture piece ‘Fuck you!’ It’s made from aluminum, leather, studs, polycarbonate and plexiglass. One has to wonder if this [eccentric illuminator](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-lebow-table-lamp) is too distracting to be a viable light source in a household. Still, there’s no denying its sheer badassery. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 38% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **X-ray Lampshades:** Designing lamps with x-ray lampshades as unique, attention-grabbing decorations. - **Offensive Silhouettes:** Creating lamps with offensive or provocative silhouettes to make a statement. - **Unique Lamp Bases:** Expanding creativity to the base of lamps to achieve a complete look. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Incorporating unique lamp designs in residential and commercial spaces to add a striking visual element. - **Artistic Furniture:** Incorporating unique, artistic furniture in various spaces. - **Home Decor:** Innovating the design of a common household item, such as lamps, to add creativity to everyday items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Face Mask-Made Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anonymlux-lamp.md) - [Quirky Common Item Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-lamp-lighter.md) - [3D-Printed Reversed Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/revolve-lamp.md) - [Artistic Magnetic Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scacco-matto-lamp.md) - [Recycled Leather Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corium-standing-floor-lamp.md) - [Hat-Like Fabric Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-lamp.md) - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Human Physio-Themed Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dif-lamp.md) - [Material-Exploring Industrial-Style Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/industrialstyle-lighting.md)
