Inspired by music and the idea of movement, his work breathes new life into the popular [mixed-media art form](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes). Based in Vancouver, Andre Petterson uses photos of objects such as bicycles, typewriters and sewing machines as his foundation. From there, he layers these images with carefully chaotic brushstrokes that seem to have a [natural rhythm](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-flow) about them, just like the music they are inspired by. Absolutely [mesmerizing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crystal-sandsara), the resulting abyss that Andre Petterson creates will surely inspire viewers to contemplate life and death, creation and destruction, not to mention the current existence of the objects in his work. The pieces are enticing and always alluring. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Mixed-media Resurgence:** The current popularity of mixed-media art presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in art materials and techniques. - **Natural Rhythm Brushstrokes:** Exploration into the natural rhythm of brushstrokes could lead to innovations in AI-assisted art creation tools. - **Contemplative Art:** There is an opportunity to disrupt the art market by creating and marketing art that provokes deeper reflection and contemplation. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art:** Art suppliers could innovate materials for mixed-media artists to meet the growing demand. - **Technology:** Developers could create more AI-assisted art creation tools for artists wanting to explore the natural rhythm of brushstrokes. - **Marketing:** Art marketers can revolutionize the industry by promoting the value of art that provokes contemplation and deeper reflection. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Color-Blending Kinetic Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/felipe-pantone.md) - [Dynamic Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-in-motion-exhibition.md) - [Physics-Informed Digital Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motion-sculpture.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Mesmerizing Sculpture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mesmerizing-sculpture.md) - [Sculpted Rhythm Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-kinetic-collection.md) - [Boundary-Pushing Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/briony-douglas-1.md) - [Fluid Function Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-flow.md)
