# Reversed Water-Filling Bathtubs The Andante Bathtub Fills Water Up from the Bottom By Akihiko Tse | Published 2013-10-16 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/andante References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/10/14/the-perfect-soak/) & [newtech-enews](http://www.newtech-enews.com/2013/10/14/andante-bathtub-by-jun-young-park/) The traditional bath tub-filling faucets often leave the hottest parts of the water on top, while leaving a cooler layer underneath, but the Andante instead fills the tub with water from the bottom. Designed by Jun Young Park, the Andante is shaped more like a [capsule](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bergvattnet) than a tub, and forms around the body's physique when lying down. The water seeps through into the tub from the bottom, reducing the resonance effect that a [traditional bathtub](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soaking-tub) creates when [water from the faucet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/botte-mixer) hits the surface of the water already in the tub. Park attempts to recreate the feeling of the ocean water when it touches our feet first instead of having to dump ourselves into the water in one go. As such, he hopes to create a enjoyable bathing experience in a "calm and comfortable surrounding." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Reversed Water-filling Bathtubs:** The Andante Bathtub fills water up from the bottom, creating a more enjoyable bathing experience. ### Where This Applies - **Bathroom Fixtures:** The Andante Bathtub disrupts the traditional faucet design, offering a new innovation for the bathroom fixtures industry. - **Wellness and Spa:** The Andante Bathtub's unique water-filling method provides a calming and comfortable bathing experience, presenting disruptive opportunities for the wellness and spa industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Automated Relaxation Bathtubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-bathtub.md) - [Removable Bathtub Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathtrope.md) - [Malleable Removable Bathtubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathtope.md) - [Rounded Hydromassage Tubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aretusa-tub-by-claudio-papa.md) - [Japanese Snack Box-Inspired Bathtubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bento-starck-box.md) - [Voice-Controlled Bath Technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kohler-perfectfill.md) - [Enhanced Stylish Faucet Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omnibath.md) - [Filtered Tub Spouts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bath-haus.md) - [Water-Circulating Cold Plunge Tubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plunge-allin-ice-bath.md)
