Danish artist, Troels Carlsen, recently exhibited a brilliantly interesting series of artworks under the title, *Age of Anxiety* at the VOLTA NY 09 [art fair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeffrey-deitch-art-gallery) in New York City.

The artworks revolve around themes of [anatomy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiyuan-xu), social and biological heritage, Darwin and varieties of monkeys. The title of the exhibition, *Age of Anxiety*, refers to a book by W. H. Auden in which four people sitting in a bar in New York try to find their place in a changing world with [industrial and technological evolution](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unnatural-history-museum-of-singapore).

The paranoia theme seems apt for our current situation with the financial crisis, global environmental issues, new power structures and the various collapses dominating this era.
