# Artistic Axes 'An Axe by Any Other Name' Turns Fender Guitars into Original Works of Art By Michael Hines | Published 2011-04-08 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/an-axe-by-any-other-name References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2011/04/05/cafeteria-tray-guitar/) & [imprint.printmag](http://imprint.printmag.com/daily-heller/an-axe-by-any-other-name/) You don't have to be a guitar god to dig 'An Axe by Any Other Name.' 'An Axe by Any Other Name' is a project commissioned by Kevin O’Callaghan to his pupils at the New York City School of Visual Arts. The project involved the students getting their own [Fender](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-guitar) guitar, which they then got to reshape and mold. Each guitar has its own unique look and feel and is modeled after a charity supported by the artist's favorite rock star. Each axe reflects its chosen charity in its design, with my personal favorite being the Surfrider Foundation-inspired guitar.
