At only 25 the extraordinary painter has had her work featured in galleries in New York, London, Toronto, Montreal and Calgary. She has been honored with numerous prestigious awards and after seeing her in action, it's not hard to see why. Working with acrylic and enamel, Shackleton creates vibrant, streaky renderings of urban scenes. Ordinarily, paintings that feature the sights and sounds of cityscapes usually capture the dinginess rather than the unnaturally bright colors and the irresistible hum of unrelenting excitement. Shackleton appears in this time-lapse video to slap the paint to the canvas rather than carefully applying it. She allows gravity to do the rest of the work, allowing chance and a controlled form of chaos to seep into her pieces. Her process accurately captures the ebb and flow of city life, traveling at such a pace that our eyes cannot to adjust quickly enough to really focus on detail of the scene. These works by Amy Shackleton are gorgeous enough to make and former urbanite homesick and any country girl rethink her choice of location. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 75% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Vibrant Urban Art:** There is a growing demand for dynamic, large scale urban art installations and murals created by innovative artists like Amy Shackleton. - **Gravity-assisted Painting Techniques:** Amy Shackleton's technique of using gravity to create abstract and fluid paintings demonstrates the potential for further innovation in paint application and artistic creation. - **Cityscape Realism with a Twist:** There is a trend towards artists combining realistic depictions of urban scenes with unexpected colors and novel techniques to create striking and memorable paintings. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design and Architecture:** Amy Shackleton's vibrant urban paintings offer interior designers and architects the opportunity to incorporate large scale, dynamic artwork into their designs, creating inspiring and unique spaces. - **Art Galleries and Exhibitions:** Amy Shackleton's unique and innovative techniques for creating urban paintings are disrupting the traditional art world, making her work highly sought-after for gallery exhibitions and art shows. - **Art Supplies and Materials:** Amy Shackelton's inventive use of acrylic and enamel, combined with gravity and chance, highlights the potential for further innovation in art supplies and materials for painters and artists. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Striking Urban Wildlife Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clare-allin.md) - [Leftover Househouse Paint Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-drop.md) - [Digital City-Inspired Art Works](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grand-central-station.md) - [Suburban-Inspired Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suburbaninspired-art-exhibition.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Artist-Designed Umbrella Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shed-rain-artist-series.md) - [Boundary-Pushing Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/briony-douglas-1.md) - [Mesmerizing Sculpture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mesmerizing-sculpture.md)
