# Amphibian Taxidermy Switzerland's Museum of Stuffed Frogs Creates Tableaus By Cowbag | Published 2009-10-14 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amphibian-taxidermy-switzerlands-museum-of-stuffed-frogs-creates-tableaus References: [atlasobscura](http://atlasobscura.com/places/frog-museum) & [myswitzerland](http://www.myswitzerland.com/en.cfm/destinations/top_attractions/offer-About_TopAttractions-Museums-8738.html) I love the concept of this [Frog museum](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sensory-museum) located in Estavayer-le-Lac, Switzerland. The museum is brilliantly random and very strange, but that is what makes is so appealing. With 150-year-old satirical tableaus of domestic life recreated with stuffed frogs, who wouldn’t want to visit? The museum started in the 1850s with an [eccentric Napoleonic guard officer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apartment-with-a-lizard) who, simply put, loved frogs. Although interesting, there is something quite unsettling about stuffed frogs playing snooker. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 61% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/pets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Animal Taxidermy:** Exploring new methods and techniques to preserve animal remains with modern technology. - **Interactive Museum Displays:** Incorporating augmented reality and interactive displays to attract audiences to unique museum exhibits. - **Satirical Artifacts:** Recreating satirical tableaus in museums using a variety of media and materials. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Sculpture:** Integrating technology and traditional techniques to modernize art and sculpture conservation practices. - **Museums and Exhibitions:** Implementing interactive and unique exhibits to enhance visitors' experiences. - **Taxidermy and Preservation:** Incorporating innovative methods to revolutionize the taxidermy and preservation industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Small Amphibious Plush Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-frog.md) - [Frog Inspired Clogs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frog-clog.md) - [Creature-Themed Amphibian Footwear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/esenes-worldwide-frog-clogs.md) - [Amphibian-Shaped Plush Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ricky-rain-frog.md) - [Satirical Destination Marketing Videos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switzerland-is-fake.md) - [Aquatic Amphibian Children's Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tacos-frog.md) - [Felt-Made Novelty Shops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bourdon-street-chippy.md) - [Renovated Zoology Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grant-museum-of-zoology.md) - [Playful Modern Art Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brent-estabrook-debuts-storytime.md)
