# War-Ready Furniture The Ammo Crate Sidetable is Battle Tested By Michael Hines | Published 2011-01-26 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ammo-crate-sidetable References: [uniquedaily](http://uniquedaily.com/2011/01/ammo-crate-sidetable/) & [recreate.za.net](http://www.recreate.za.net/products/furniture/ammo-crate-sidetable) I doubt you’ll ever be able to find the Ammo Crate Sidetable in any [conventional furniture store](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/re-up-side-tables). This table is made out of an actual ammunition case that was used to carry equipment for nighttime warfare. If the Ammo Crate Sidetable was sturdy enough to once hold [illuminating mortar shells](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/klaro-30-caliber-smoke-can-humidor), I think it can handle a few [cups of coffee](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fels-coffee-table) and some random magazines. I definitely prefer the horrors of war in furniture form. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Military-inspired Furniture:** Designers can create functional and stylish furniture pieces by repurposing military equipment. - **Rugged Furniture:** Consumers are seeking sturdy and durable furniture that not only looks good but can also withstand everyday wear and tear. - **Retrofitted Furniture:** Retrofitted furniture made from repurposed materials speaks to consumers' desires for unique and eco-friendly decor options. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** Furniture companies can capitalize on the trend toward sturdy, functional pieces that have unique and interesting design details. - **Vintage and Retro:** Vintage and retro shops can source repurposed military equipment and market the resulting furniture to buyers interested in unique, environmentally friendly pieces. - **Home Decor:** The trend toward eco-friendly and sustainable decor options opens up opportunities for home decor companies to create furniture made from repurposed materials. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Strong Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharp-table.md) - [Dual-Purpose Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dog-crate-and-end-table.md) - [Aircraft Door Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-exit-door-table.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md) - [Tactical Camping Furniture Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pknk-lightweight.md) - [Asymmetrical Storage Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crossbred-side-table.md) - [Perplexingly Angular Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tadashi-side-table.md) - [Durable Animal-Shaped Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metal-cow-accent-table.md) - [Illusory Cracked Base Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-side-table.md)
