# Flexible Pet Aids The Amigo Dog Wheelchair Lets Paralyzed Pooches Live Life to the Fullest By Michael Hines | Published 2011-08-21 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amigo-dog-wheelchair References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2011/08/19/a-dogs-best-friend/) The word "cute" is not often used to describe a wheelchair, but the Amigo Dog Wheelchair is about to change all of that. Designed by Nir Shalom, Amigo is a flexible wheelchair designed for small dogs. The Amigo Dog Wheelchair lets paralyzed pooches walk, sit or run without the assistance of their owner. The wheelchair may make dogs look ridiculously cute, but don't be fooled, this wheelchair is built Tonka Tough. The demo video featured here proves this, as the Amigo is shown being dragged downstairs and ran endlessly along rough-looking pavement. Here's hoping that the Amigo Dog Wheelchair will go from concept to reality sometime soon. Paralyzed pups have just as much gas left in the tank as able-bodied dogs, they just need a good set of wheels to get going again. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 70% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Health](https://www.trendhunter.com/health) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Flexible Pet Aids:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative pet aids with flexible designs that improve mobility and quality of life for pets. - **Personalized Wheelchairs:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create customizable wheelchairs for pets with disabilities, providing tailored support and comfort. - **Durable Pet Mobility Devices:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design durable and rugged mobility devices for pets that can withstand various terrains and environments. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Pet Care:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Revolutionize the pet care industry by offering advanced mobility solutions for pets with disabilities. - **Medical Equipment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative medical equipment specifically designed for pets, such as customizable wheelchairs. - **Outdoor Gear:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create durable and functional outdoor gear for pets, including mobility devices for various terrains. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Senior Pet-Friendly Walking Aids](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steady-walking-aid.md) - [Canine Rehab Exoskeletons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-power-assistive.md) - [Pet-Carrying Walking Aids](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/walking-aid-innovaion.md) - [Intelligent Canine Exoskeletons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-power-assistive-exoskeleton.md) - [Elevated Pet Office Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-chair.md) - [Supportive Senior Pet Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steady-walking-aid-for-dogs.md) - [Friendly Robotic Wheelchair Caregivers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wheelchair-robot-concept.md) - [Wheel-Free Assisted Mobility Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toyota-walk-me.md) - [Airplane-Friendly Wheelchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airchair-wheelchair.md)
