"Tourist Guilt" is a common affliction affecting many [American travelers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ef-ultimate-break). When we go abroad, we see our American neighbors doing appalling things, from taking photos in sacred religious sites, to wearing black knee socks with white sneakers, donning those awful fanny packs, and making a noisy ruckus wherever and whenever they want.

A survey by Expedia.com showed that Tourist Guilt isn't as bad as one might expect. 1500 [European hotel managers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/european-destination) were polled and they think Americans are pretty polite. Is this just because their expectations are so low? The study also showed that US citizens were considered the world's most [generous tippers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/100-travelers). Oh how easily money can influence an opinion!
