# Glow-In-The-Dark Gravel These Stones From Ambient Glow Technology are Out of This World By Courtney Scharf | Published 2012-06-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ambient-glow-technology References: [joannagoddard.blogspot](http://joannagoddard.blogspot.ca/2012/05/glow-in-dark-driveway.html) & [ambientglowtechnology](http://www.ambientglowtechnology.com/glow-products/glow-stones.html) These stones from Ambient Glow Technology are a rad way to spruce up a driveway. Using [glow-in-the-dark technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glowinthedark1), this gravel lights the way for cars and provides a truly awesome look. Looking like something out of a sci-fi movie, the stones offer a really impressive aesthetic only visible at night. Though they hold the potential to appear tacky, the blue and green color range keep them from crossing the line into kitsch territory. After making their big debut on [Pinterest](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/visualize-real-furniture), and being featured by bloggers like Joanna Goddard of Cup of Jo, these stones are making a name for themselves with their gorgeous and celestial qualities. Fun, quirky and quite beautiful, these [glow-in-the-dark beauties](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glowing-relief) are, of course, unnecessary but wonderfully decorative. Sure to sell out quickly, these stones are an unexpected update to typically stark driveways. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 96% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Glow-in-the-dark Landscaping:** Offering a unique and visually stunning way to light up outdoor spaces and landscaping projects. - **Novelty Building Materials:** Introducing new and unusual materials to construction and home renovation markets. - **Sustainable Energy Solutions:** Using photoluminescent technology to promote eco-friendly and energy efficient lighting options. ### Where This Applies - **Landscaping:** Appealing to homeowners looking for eye-catching additions to their outdoor spaces. - **Construction Materials:** Providing a unique and futuristic building material to the construction industry for use in various applications. - **Energy and Lighting:** Offering eco-friendly and energy efficient lighting solutions for both indoor and outdoor spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glow-in-the-Dark Water Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glow-in-the-dark-water-bottle.md) - [Daylight-Responsive Brick Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luminescent-bricks.md) - [Indoor Gardening Glowing Petunias](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firefly-petunia.md) - [Dazzling Gradient Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-bulb.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md) - [Glowing Water Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glowyld-collection.md) - [Luminescent Mushroom Plant Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lunalite-solar-mushroom-planter-stake.md) - [Glow-in-the-Dark Device Skins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ddbrand-circuit-board.md) - [Astronaut Night Light Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/night-light-projectors.md)
