Abelardo Morell is a Cuban-American photographer who works with a *[camera obscura](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clearcam)* to create really [fantastic upside down photos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/profiles-in-color). Many of Morell’s objects are historically significant landmarks in Venice, Italy.

A *Camera obscura*, which is Latin for "dark chamber", is said to be the precursor to the present day camera. Britannica.com describes it as “a darkened enclosure having an aperture usually provided with a lens through which light from external objects enters to form an image on the opposite surface."

The gallery has a fantastic collection of photos from Morell’s [installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble). The gorgeous lead photo, which happens to be my favorite, is called *View of Volta del Canal in Palazzo Room* painted with Jungle Motif, Venice Italy 2008.
