# Amazing Cosmic Simulations Astronomy Videos from The New Scientist By karl burkart | Published 2008-09-18 | Science Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazing-astronomcal-simulations References: [space.newscientist](http://space.newscientist.com/article/dn14707?DCMP=youtube) The New Scientist just released a bunch of amazing scientific simulations courtesy of [NASA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beyond-the-light)/Swift/Cruz deWilde of a variety of cosmic events. The video above shows how astronomers think light from a gamma-ray burst called 080319B was released. A narrow jet punched though the outer layers of a collapsing star, then followed by a wider, less energetic beam. Enough data has been collected from the [Hubble (and other) telescopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seestar-s30) and [computer simulations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linux-foundations-newton) are sophisticated enough now to visualize some of the universe’s great mysteries. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 2% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Science](https://www.trendhunter.com/science) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Sophisticated Cosmic Simulations:** Innovative use of computer simulations is advancing the visualization and understanding of the universe’s complexities. - **Astrophysics Animation:** Animation is an effective medium to illustrate complex and dynamic space events, and promote STEM education. - **Remote Space Observation:** Space observation through remote telescopes is a growing and accessible field for amateur and professional astronomers alike. ### Where This Applies - **Astronomy and Space Research:** The development of advanced computer simulations and animation is driving innovative space exploration and better understanding of Earth and the universe. - **Education:** Cosmic simulations are inspiring and effective teaching tools that promote scientific literacy and engagement. - **Technology:** The need for increased computer processing and storage capacity for sophisticated simulations and data analysis presents great opportunities for the technology industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Immersive Space Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beyond-the-light.md) - [Pizza-Shaped Universe Maps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/universe-map1.md) - [Advanced Telescope Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/advanced-telescope-design.md) - [Dark Matter Maps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dark-matter-map.md) - [Physics-Informed Digital Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motion-sculpture.md) - [AR Astronomy Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-gate.md) - [Space-Themed Marbled Bear Figurine](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/black-hole-1.md) - [AR Space Agency Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ar-nasa-app.md) - [Vintage-Inspired Eclipse Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solar-eclipse-poster.md)
