While aluminum may seem like an odd building material for a home, this retreat boasts a modern look that represents a striking ode to minimalism. The Kfar Shmaryahu House is located on the [top of a small hill](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cloud-house) in one of Israel's oldest communities. The home features two levels, both of which boast the same boxy shape. The first floor contains the kitchen and living room and it is characterized by the large glass walls running along the back. The second floor contains the bedrooms, which are wrapped in a natural aluminum casing. The unusual exterior ultimately serves as a stark industrial contrast to the [minimal design inside](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caju-house). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Aluminum Clad Architecture:** Design and construction of structures using natural aluminum casing to promote structural integrity, durability, and sleekness. - **Industrial Minimalism:** Adopting a simple and functional aesthetic design with an industrial twist that showcases raw elements and unexpected materials. - **Box-shaped Homes:** Design and construction of homes with sharp angles and geometric shapes, often with large glass windows to maximize natural light. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Opportunities to incorporate natural aluminum into building facades for enhanced visual appeal, durability and sustainability. - **Construction:** Opportunities to adopt a functional and beautiful aesthetic through the use of raw, industrial materials in construction. - **Real Estate:** Opportunities to market and sell box-shaped, modern homes that have a functional design and unexpected material finishes, resulting in increased buyer demand. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Steel Facade-Wrapped Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bomun-house.md) - [Simple Material Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/openfield-house.md) - [Materially Expressive Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alma-switch-house.md) - [Corrugated Metal Barn-Like Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studioac.md) - [Corrugated Metal-Clad Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/catskill-house.md) - [Rectangular Golden Shimmering Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/golde-house.md) - [Slatted Wooden Suburban Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-slatted-house.md) - [All-Metal Palm Spring Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminaire-house.md) - [Housing Block Defensive Facades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bureau-des-mesarchitecture.md)
