# Metal-Clad Cottages The Aluminum Cabin Mirrors the Mineral Aesthetic of its Rough Site By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-cabin References: [leibal](http://leibal.com/architecture/aluminum-cabin/) & [jva.no](http://www.jva.no/) While metal is a common construction material, you rarely see it sheathing residential structures like it does the Aluminum Cabin. This [cozy seaside abode](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pretpec) is completely covered in [highly reflective panels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alphaline) that complement the acute angles and abrupt edges of the contemporary structure. It is quite the sharp-looking shack. Located in Vestfold, Norway, the JVA-designed dwelling sits nestled into the rocky shoreline and manages not to chop up the dramatic landscape. It mirrors the grasses, the shrubs, the mosses, the trees and the exposed bedrock, but also the expansive sunlit sky. The Aluminum Cabin is proof that [cutting-edge architectural styles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silver-house) can actually do a great job of harmonizing with the natural world around them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Metal-clad Architecture:** The use of metal as a cladding material for residential structures is disrupting traditional home designs. - **Reflective Panels:** The use of reflective panels in construction is transforming the aesthetic of contemporary structures. - **Natural Integration:** The trend of incorporating natural elements into modern architecture is creating disruptive opportunities for eco-friendly designs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Construction:** The construction industry can explore the use of metal as a viable alternative to traditional construction materials, opening up opportunities for unique and efficient designs. - **Architecture:** The architecture industry can take advantage of the popularity of reflective panels in construction to create innovative, modern structures that stand out from the crowd. - **Eco-friendly Housing:** The trend of natural integration in modern architecture is a disruptive opportunity for the eco-friendly housing industry, providing new solutions to sustainability challenges. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Corrugated Metal Barn-Like Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studioac.md) - [X-Shaped Nature-Interacting Gabled Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fowl-river-cabin.md) - [Corrugated Metal-Clad Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/catskill-house.md) - [Compact Modular Forest Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-house.md) - [Slate-Clad Prefab Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1807-holiday.md) - [Arctic Floating Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-vipp-guesthouse.md) - [Coastal Bright Red Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handegrd-arkitektur.md) - [Captivating Modern Prefab Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skali-backcountry-cubiod.md) - [Log Cabin-Inspired Minimal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/restua.md)
