# Plumbing Jacket Racks 'Alteruse' by Armin Fischer Brings Toilet Cleansers to the Living Room By Matt Ho | Published 2011-07-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alteruse-by-armin-fischer References: [likecool](http://www.likecool.com/alteruse_by_Armin_Fischer--Design--Home.html) & [dreimeta](http://www.dreimeta.com/) Among the many unusual coat racks that are on the market, the Alteruse by Armin Fischer certainly deserves some recognition. The Alteruse by Armin Fischer takes a toilet plunger and transforms it into a coat rack. As you can see, the part that does all the dirty work acts as the end that sticks to the wall in a whimsically comical manner. Of course as much as you wish that the plunging side actually did function as an adhesive, it's actually bolted; besides. it's way more secure that way. The handle has several slits that provides supporting space for coat hooks so that you can hang your jackets up. The Alteruse is a clever, humorous design with a quirky element fit for the modern home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Upcycling Home Accessories:** Transforming common household items into functional and artistic pieces bring eco-friendliness and innovation opportunities for home decor and upcycling industries. - **Humor in Product Design:** Incorporating whimsy and comedy into everyday items elevates everyday objects and creates new opportunities for product design and marketing. - **Dual-purpose Design:** Combining two unrelated functions in one item presents new opportunities for innovation in furniture and home goods design and marketing. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Upcycling and eco-friendly trends in home decor create opportunities for socially-responsible businesses that offer unique and functional products. - **Product Design:** Humor and playful product design create new opportunities for businesses that want to differentiate themselves in the market and appeal to more consumers. - **Furniture:** Dual-purpose designs like the Alteruse Plumbing Jacket Rack create opportunities for furniture businesses that want to create unique pieces with multiple functions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cheeky Bathroom Plungers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stylish-plunger.md) - [Aesthetic Bathroom Plungers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-plunger.md) - [Quirky Toilet Brushes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stylish-toilet-brush.md) - [Wall Art Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/justin-case.md) - [Chinese Character-Shaped Coat Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resting-coat-rack.md) - [Sporty Climbing-Inspired Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grip-hanger.md) - [Open-Concept Clothing Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhutte-clothes-hanger-rack.md) - [Playful Monkey-Inspired Coat Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monkey-coat-stand.md) - [Storage-Equipped Restaurant Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rack-chair.md)
