# Stylish Floor Seating The A-Lounge by Assembly Boasts a Comfy Wedge-Like Backrest By Meghan Young | Published 2013-05-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alounge-by-assembly References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/get-comfy-on-the-floor-a-lounge-by-assembly) & [assemblydesign.us](http://assemblydesign.us/) The A-Lounge by Assembly, an American design studio founded by Pete Oyler and Nora Mattingly, is a piece of furniture that will satisfy everyone's inner bohemian spirit. It is a like a [sofa substitute for the floor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/osolo). In place of the traditional legs and cushions, it rests right on the ground. But instead of forcing people to recline back on their forearms, the A-Lounge by Assembly supplies a comfy backrest in the form of a [large upholstered wedge](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calma-lounge-by-layer). Made up of three parts, the A-Lounge by Assembly also comes with a [quilted camelhair cushion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calma-lounge) filled with buckwheat hulls and a natural sheepskin throw. Created in collaboration with Misha Kahn, the seat might not be made for everyone, but it will certainly bring a new appreciation to the floor. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Floor Seating:** Designing functional and unique floor seating that offers comfort and versatile seating options - **Elevated Floor Seating:** Creating elevated and sophisticated floor seating with premium cushioning and organic materials - **Customizable Floor Seating:** Designing customizable floor seating options that can be configured to accommodate different spaces and styles ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture:** Designing and creating innovative floor seating options that provide comfort and flexibility for modern living spaces - **Interior Design:** Incorporating functional and stylish floor seating into interior design schemes to create comfortable and visually appealing spaces - **Home Decor:** Offering unique and artisanal floor seating options as a part of the home decor industry, and exploring premium materials like camelhair and sheepskin ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cozy Contemporary Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-perron-bun.md) - [Modular Bulbous Lounge Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sundae-modular-lounge.md) - [Posture-Maintaining Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/havana-lounge.md) - [Flexible Landscape-Like Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airberg-sofa-collection.md) - [Cozy Oversized Cushion Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo-lounge-chair.md) - [Anthropomorphic Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-lounger.md) - [Plush Sculptural Lounge Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rokko.md) - [Comfort-Focused Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/accent-chair.md) - [Vibrant Chaise Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/versarest.md)
