# Wood-Roofed Residences ALON House by AABE is Serene and Contemporary By Meghan Young | Published 2014-05-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alon-house-by-aabe References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2014/05/15/alon-house-by-aabe/) & [erpicum.org](http://www.erpicum.org/) The ALON House by AABE ([Atelier](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-corjeum) d’Architecture Bruno Erpicum & Partners) is a contemporary residence that features a [unique roof and ceiling](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof). The two happen to blend into each other to create a seamless architectural aesthetic that runs throughout the entire design. By bringing the outdoors indoors in a design perspective rather than a decorative one, it shows people that such possibilities are endless. Located in France, the ALON House by AABE also incorporates floor-to-ceiling windows that stretch around the entire perimeter of the home. This allows an undistorted view of the French coast. Serene and modern, the design studio writes, "A tile-covered ceiling salutes the spirit of Provençal homes. Below, only [wood and concrete](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/openfield-house) form the building. Beyond any codes, the natural, raw materials stand eternal." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Seamless Architectural Aesthetic:** Exploring innovative ways to blend different architectural elements to create a cohesive and visually appealing design. - **Bringing Outdoors Indoors:** Leveraging design perspectives to seamlessly integrate outdoor elements into indoor spaces, blurring the boundaries between nature and architecture. - **Natural, Raw Materials:** Embracing the use of organic and sustainable materials, like wood and concrete, to create environmentally-friendly and aesthetically pleasing structures. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture and Design:** Opportunity for architects and designers to experiment with innovative techniques and materials to create unique and visually striking buildings. - **Construction and Real Estate:** Potential for construction companies and real estate developers to incorporate nature-inspired design elements and materials into residential and commercial projects. - **Sustainable Living:** Growing interest in sustainable living practices opens up possibilities for incorporating natural materials and biophilic design concepts into residential and commercial spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Residential Mountain Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avber-house.md) - [Hilltop Modern Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cloud-house.md) - [Mountainside Cedar Alpine Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elizabeth-roberts-architects.md) - [Meadow-Overlooking Sleek Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studioac-1.md) - [Cutout Roof Cement-Clad Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edition-office.md) - [Reimagined Postmodern Residence](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alder-house.md) - [Simple Material Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/openfield-house.md) - [Contemporary Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-saidera.md) - [Materially Expressive Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alma-switch-house.md)
