# Color-Blocked Contemporary Abodes The Alnwick Road House Exudes Chic Minimalism By Jamie Danielle Munro | Published 2014-03-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alnwick-road-house References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2014/03/20/the-alnwick-road-house-by-park-associates/) & [parkassociates.sg](http://www.parkassociates.com.sg/) The Alnwick Road House by Park + Associates has a black and white color-blocking technique. Because of these minimalist colors used, the house takes on an extremely modern look, which is perfect for those who like less clutter in their lives. Built on a slightly smaller lot, the architects have made the most of the space. Beside the house is a slender pool, and the back of the abode features a slight overhang that allows individuals to entertain guests outside, even in the rain. Considering the Alnwick Road House is built in Singapore, where even in the rainy season it doesn't get below 25 degrees Celsius, this is an excellent feature to use all year round. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Color-blocked Contemporary Abodes:** Incorporating color-blocking techniques in modern architecture can create a sleek and minimalist aesthetic. - **Chic Minimalism:** Embracing a minimalist design approach can result in a stylish and clutter-free living space. - **Outdoor Entertaining:** Including covered outdoor spaces allows for year-round entertaining, even in less favorable weather conditions. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture and Design:** Innovative color-blocking techniques and minimalist design principles can revolutionize architectural styles. - **Home Furnishings:** The trend towards chic minimalism creates a demand for stylish and functional home furnishings that complement modern living spaces. - **Outdoor Living:** Opportunities exist for developing innovative outdoor entertaining solutions to enhance usability and enjoyment of outdoor spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Compact Calming Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-sheltered-space.md) - [Spacially Contrasting Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barwon-heads-house.md) - [Concrete Block-Formed Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blockwall-house.md) - [Minimal Japanese Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-kyobate.md) - [Angled Concrete Forest Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/block-wall-house.md) - [Minimal Philosophy Toronto Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-hill-residence.md) - [Refined Modern Dwellings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silver-house.md) - [Compact Urban Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stealth-house.md) - [Monochrome Living Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grigio-verde.md)
