# Insect Wall Art The Jennifer Angus 'All Creatures Great and Small' Exhibit Has the 'Ew' Factor By Meghan Young | Published 2011-06-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/all-creatures-great-and-small References: [fastcodesign](http://www.fastcodesign.com/1664074/meet-jennifer-angus-an-artist-whose-medium-is-insects-slideshow) & [jenniferangus](http://www.jenniferangus.com) The All Creatures Great and Small solo exhibit may have a huge 'ew' factor considering that it centers around wall art using (gasp!) insects, but it also focuses on feelings of respect, consideration and unique beauty. It sheds a different light on these otherwise creepy crawlers, showing that they can do more than simply scare us into screeching, dancing fools. Created by [textile artist](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olga-de-amaral) Jennifer Angus, the All Creatures Great and Small solo exhibit features [kaleidoscopic patterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorama) using thousands of brightly colored insects. According to Angus, "part of [her] work is the rehabilitation of the image of insects -- that insects are so vitally important." Stunning and unique, the All Creatures Great and Small solo exhibit is currently showing at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles. If you are in town, I suggest you check it out. You may be surprised at how your perception of bugs will change. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Insect Wall Art:** Creating wall art using insects as the medium, presenting unique and intriguing artwork. - **Rehabilitation of Insect Image:** Shifting the perception of insects from creepy and scary to beautiful and important. - **Kaleidoscopic Patterns:** Using thousands of brightly colored insects to create mesmerizing and vibrant patterns. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Design:** Exploring new mediums and materials like insects to create innovative and unique artwork. - **Environmental Conservation:** Promoting the importance of insects in ecosystems and advocating for their protection and conservation. - **Museum and Exhibition:** Curating unconventional exhibitions that challenge traditional perceptions and engage audiences in new ways. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Insect-Inspired Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-bronze-sculptures.md) - [Bug-Inspired Jewelry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/murder-hornet-ring.md) - [Futuristic Museum Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unnatural-history-museum-of-singapore.md) - [Pattern-Heavy Design Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/what-are-you-looking-at.md) - [Intricate Fiber Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/threadwork-women-redefining-fiber-arts.md) - [Life-Sized Puzzled Insect Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-collection.md) - [Outdoor Wildlife Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-great-elephant-migration.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Textile Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olga-de-amaral.md)
