# Alien Egg Cups The Egg 51 Dish Serves Up an Extraterrestrial Spread for Breakfast By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-02-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alien-egg-cup References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2015/02/24/eggstra-terrestrial/) & [mnkbusiness](http://www.mnkbusiness.com/egg-51-egg-cup/) The designer of this alien egg cup had a bit of fun with the fact that this sort of dish needs only to be quite simple. A rounded base to delicately hold your shelled edible meets the most basic criteria, so a more elaborate overall design was certainly something that could be expanded upon. For Monkey Business, Itamar Burstein came up with an imaginative form, inspired by a UFO. The shape of a flying saucer embraces the egg, elevating it from the kitchen table on a stabilizing tripod. The name, Egg 51, is a pun that's based on the location in Nevada known as Area 51. Associated with a slew of conspiracy theories about life on other planets visiting Earth, this alien egg cup is a clever and practical artifact of contemporary culture. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 72% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Imaginative Design:** The alien egg cup demonstrates the potential for imaginative and creative designs in everyday products. - **Pop Culture-inspired Products:** The alien egg cup highlights the demand for products inspired by popular culture references. - **Quirky Kitchenware:** The alien egg cup exemplifies the trend towards quirky and fun kitchenware designs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Kitchenware:** The kitchenware industry has an opportunity to create innovative and playful designs like the alien egg cup. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can tap into the demand for unique and whimsical products like the alien egg cup. - **Gifts and Novelties:** The gifts and novelties industry can benefit from producing products that incorporate pop culture elements, such as the alien egg cup. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Experimental Egg Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/experimental-egg-racks.md) - [Otherworldly Themed Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ufo-rocking.md) - [Fried Egg-Inspired Canopy Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunny-side-up-extension.md) - [Artfully Balanced Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halfway-serious.md) - [Galactic-Themed Pen Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ufo-desk-pen.md) - [Zero-Gravity Space Cups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zero-gravity-coffee-cup.md) - [Metallic Super-Ellitpical Desk Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/altdynamic-superegg.md) - [Scrambled Egg Cups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/instant-scrambled-eggs.md) - [Alien-Inspired Metal Stool Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metal-stool-1.md)
