# Luxury Archaic Abodes The Alexendre De Betak Home is a Modern Cave Mansion By Corinne Guirgis | Published 2011-05-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alexandre-de-betak-home References: [trendland.net](http://trendland.net/2011/05/16/trendhome-modern-cave/) & [tmagazine.blogs.nytimes](http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/04/29/man-cave-with-a-view/#more-156951) The Alexandre De Betak home may be [cave-like in design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/javier-senosiain-arquitectos), but with its infinitely modern accessories and its fresh, out-the-box newness, De Betak is hardly living the caveman life! T Magazine describes the house as having "devastating views of the Mediterranean Sea, oddly curvaceous white plaster walls and a surfeit of unpretentious, quirky design gestures." Despite its size and original design, the [hill-top, sea-side home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aip-azia-villa) is quaint and inviting. Located in a small coastal village in the Tramuntana region of Majorca, the home is inspired by 1970s architecture -- with a twist. De Betak explains in his interview with T Magazine that he wanted the ambiance to be “very minimal but warm,” and goes on to say, "For 10 years I was dreaming about it, for five years I was looking for a spot for it, for two years working on it, for another two years building it, and finally here it is!" This modern cave comes equipped with an in-home movie theater and [gorgeous swimming pool](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/finca-style-coastal). Its design, ambiance and flavor make it truly a hill-top haven. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Luxury Homes:** The trend of creating modern, minimalist homes with luxurious features and unique design gestures presents opportunities for architects and interior designers. - **Seaside Hilltop Homes:** The trend of building homes on hilltops near the seaside offers opportunities for real estate developers to create unique, scenic living spaces. - **Quirky Architectural Design:** The trend of incorporating unpretentious, quirky design gestures in architectural projects allows for innovative and unconventional home designs. ### Where This Applies - **Real Estate Development:** The real estate development industry can take advantage of the trend of building hilltop homes near the seaside by creating unique and luxurious properties. - **Architecture:** The architecture industry can embrace the trend of minimalist luxury homes and incorporate it into their designs, offering clients modern and visually stunning living spaces. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can capitalize on the trend of quirky architectural design by creating unique and unconventional furniture and decor pieces that complement these spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Lofty Minimalist Living Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-living-space1.md) - [Modern Stone-Clad Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-coachella.md) - [Luxuriously Artistic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/child-studio1.md) - [Cave-Like Folded Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wild-house.md) - [Cave-Like Retail Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cavelike-interior.md) - [Castle-Inspired Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hollywood-hills-house-1.md) - [Mountaintop Cantilevered Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/levitae-house.md) - [Minimal Mid-Century Hollywood Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mulholland.md) - [Modern Mountainous Luxury Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robert-chisholm-architects.md)
