This 3-minute video displays the finer details of Japan's largest city. Each frame is captured with affection and the [post-production effects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-flow) are tastefully applied, with restrained use of solar flares and image etching. Alex Lee unpretentiously calls himself, "Just a kid in the city with a camera," but this piece elevates him well beyond that. The video is methodically planned out. The cuts are well timed, yet unexpected and the music choice (Flying Lotus ft. Tom Yorke - And the World Laughs With You) is spot on. His use of [slow motion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slow-tv-series) suggests he is savoring these familiar and comforting cityscapes; capturing each detail with loving care. Alex Lee's vision of Tokyo inspires nostalgia in his viewers, even if they've never seen the incredible city for themselves. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 26% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Multimedia](https://www.trendhunter.com/multimedia) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Slow-motion Cityscape Tributes:** Opportunity for artists and filmmakers to create tribute pieces to major cities, utilizing slow motion and artful post-production effects. - **Affectionate Urban Photography:** Opportunity for photographers to capture the details of urban life with an affectionate and nostalgic approach. - **Distressed Aesthetic Videos:** Opportunity for visual artists to create videos with a tastefully distressed aesthetic. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Travel and Tourism:** Incorporating slow-motion cityscape footage into travel and tourism marketing campaigns. - **Art and Photography:** Showcasing cityscapes in galleries and exhibitions with an emphasis on affection and nostalgia in the photography or videography. - **Film and Media Production:** Creating short films or music videos with a nostalgic, distressed aesthetic. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Digital City-Inspired Art Works](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grand-central-station.md) - [Laser-Cut Urban Artistry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-cut-city-maps.md) - [Peaceful Wooden-Designed Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroo-residence.md) - [Bi-Culture-Inspired Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bicultureinspired-art-exhibition.md) - [Kyoto-Inspired Solo Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ode-to-kyoto.md) - [Travel Photography Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/all-within-the-detour.md) - [Miniature Artful Hip-Hop Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/danny-cortes.md) - [Destructive Nature Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keita-miyazaki.md) - [Drone-Assisted Landscape Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/katsu-1.md)
