# Postmortem Artwork These Alex Dodge Paintings are Bloodcurdling By Luisa Amanda Gomes | Published 2010-02-18 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alex-dodge-paintings References: [sweet-station](http://www.sweet-station.com/blog/?p=10806) & [alexdodge](http://www.alexdodge.com/index.php) These Alex Dodge paintings are a strange collection of full-body [self-portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition) in possible death scenes. These particular paintings seem to be inspired by an episode of CSI. In a few instances Alex Dodge's almost nude images of himself look almost mummified. In other instances, it’s as if the serial killer posed them strangely to freak out the homicide detectives that would have to investigate. Dark and creepy, these paintings are certain to put a chill down your spine as you view them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Postmortem Artwork:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of postmortem themes in other art forms such as sculpture or digital art. - **Self-portraits:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop an AI-powered platform that allows individuals to create realistic self-portraits in various artistic styles. - **Dark and Creepy Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create an online marketplace specifically for dark and creepy art, catering to the growing demand for macabre aesthetics. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with contemporary artists to incorporate new technologies, such as virtual reality or augmented reality, into their artwork. - **Forensic Science:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop advanced forensic tools or techniques that can accurately analyze crime scene artworks to aid investigations. - **Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create a new genre of horror-themed entertainment that combines immersive storytelling with interactive art installations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [Raunchy Anime-Inspired Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manuela-soto-sosa.md) - [Human Duality-Themed Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passive-aggression.md) - [Charming Creepy Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deddy-bears.md) - [Human Embraced-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-sculpture.md) - [Dark Abstracted Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-minyades-exhibition.md) - [Travel-Inspired Canvas Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-passport-series.md) - [Hyper-Realistic Flesh Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/junji-ito.md)
