With the recent announcement that the second generation of the [AirPods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorware-1) case will come with wireless charging built in, the AirPlus gives [Apple](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airpods-pro-storage-case) users an alternative to having to buy a completely new case in replacement. AirPlus cases are colorful skins that slip easily over the original [AirPod](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iron-man-helmet) case, adding both style in the form of color and functionality in the form of wireless charging.

Though AirPods are designed to be extra portable thanks to their diminutive size, that portability is often negated. The earbuds lose charge after a few hours of listening, and without a way to charge them on the go, consumers were left at a loss. Adding an AirPlus skin to one's AirPod case enables that wireless, portable charging, unlocking the full potential of the Apple listening item.
