# Elegant Airplane Desks This Amazing Workstation is Made from the Wing of a 737-800 Boeing Aircraft By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-01-18 | Autos Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airplane-desk References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2015/01/16/this-desk-is-made-from-the-wing-of-a-737-boeing-jet/) & [flown.fr](http://www.flown.fr/) The crossover between creative fields is made apparent by this airplane desk. The same priorities for beautiful and functional forms link seemingly distanced domains of design, suggesting that an avian engineer could make for a great furniture designer. What you see here is an impeccably produced 737-800 winglet that was appropriated by Les Ateliers FLOWN for an utterly striking [office sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leda). Furthermore, the integral utility that it might have provided for its original purpose goes well appreciated in its new form. The graceful curve of the [airplane wing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aerospace-seat-spn01) makes it self-supporting on one side, enabling the designers to simply prop up the other for a sleek horizontal surface. A block of sea pearl granite was chosen as the support of the Cantilevers airplane desk, creating harmonious symbolism of earth and air. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.1/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 90% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Creative Crossovers:** The crossover between creative fields is creating new opportunities for innovation and collaboration. - **Beautiful and Functional Forms:** The prioritization of beautiful and functional designs provides opportunities for product development and differentiation. - **Repurposing Materials:** The trend of repurposing materials, such as airplane wings, offers opportunities for sustainable and unique product designs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Incorporating airplane parts into furniture designs offers innovative and eye-catching options for home and office decor. - **Aviation:** Exploring the crossover between aviation and design can uncover new opportunities for innovative aircraft components and aesthetics. - **Sustainable Design:** Repurposing materials in design, like airplane wings, aligns with the trend towards sustainability and offers eco-friendly product options. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Adaptable Mobile Professional Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airy-office-desk.md) - [Futuristic Sculptural Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arnardo-desk.md) - [Aircraft Door Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-exit-door-table.md) - [Sculptural Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-wall-desk.md) - [Floating Architectural Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1949-protractor-desk.md) - [Sleek Storage-Packed Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/threesix-desk.md) - [Minimalist Monochromatic Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arqus-desk.md) - [Ultra-Organized Work Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-for-students.md) - [Single-Piece Construction Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nook-desk.md)
