The camera drone uses [personal tracking technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dji-rs-5) to stay locked onto its target, providing high quality action footage that requires no input from the owner. It lets athletes stay focused on their [extreme sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insta360-x5) rather than capturing those feats for posterity. Though the Airdog 2 drone isn't the only photography device to track its subject, it uses a unique system to do so. Most competitors make use of a combination of computer vision and smartphone-enabled GPS, whereas the Airdog 2 uses a battery-powered wrist- or arm-worn leash. The benefit of this system is that it will keep the drone locked on even if its subject passes out of sight (e.g. under a bridge or beneath a tree canopy,) and it also means that users need not keep their smartphones on them while doing their stunts. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Personal Tracking Technology:** The Airdog 2 drone uses personal tracking technology to stay locked onto its target, creating opportunities for personal tracking devices in other industries. - **High Quality Action Footage:** The Airdog 2 drone captures high quality action footage without requiring any input from the owner, presenting opportunities for automated filming in the film and entertainment industry. - **Battery-powered Leash:** The Airdog 2 uses a battery-powered wrist- or arm-worn leash to keep the drone locked on its subject, suggesting opportunities for wearable technology in drone control systems. ### Who This Affects Most - **Sports Photography:** The Airdog 2 drone is disrupting the sports photography industry by offering an accessible way to capture high quality action shots without the need for a professional photographer. - **Personal Tracking Devices:** The personal tracking technology utilized by the Airdog 2 drone presents opportunities for the development of personal tracking devices for fitness and safety purposes. - **Film and Entertainment:** The Airdog 2 drone's ability to capture high quality action footage without any input from the user opens up opportunities for automated filming in the film and entertainment industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Multi-Mode Camera Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multimode-camera-drones.md) - [AI-Powered Hobby Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skydio-2.md) - [Lightweight Agility Camera Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dji-air-3.md) - [Improved Subject-Tracking Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/action-5-pro.md) - [Modular Self-Flying Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoverair-x1-pro.md) - [Hovering Selfie Drone Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/camera-x1.md) - [Waterproof Self-Flying Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoverair-aqua-drone.md) - [Hybrid Racing Camera Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dji-fpv2.md) - [Solo Traveler Photography Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oppo-levi-drone-concept.md)
