# Canopy-Free Umbrellas The Air Umbrella is a Wind-Powered, Eco-Friendly Rain Protector By Venessa Fisher | Published 2010-01-15 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-umbrella References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2010/01/12/try-air-to-stay-dry/) Looking for a more eco-friendly and convenient umbrella for May showers? Look no further than the wind-powered design known as the Air Umbrella created by Je Sung Park. This innovative and creative idea creates a barrier between you and the raindrops by pushing a sheet of steady air that is blown out by a hollow pipe. The Air Umbrella user can also control the length of the handle and the size of the actual air canopy. Pretty impressive! Now someone just needs to try it out. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 85% | Activity: 75% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Eco-friendly Umbrellas:** Designing umbrellas that are sustainable and environmentally friendly by using wind-powered technology. - **Innovative Umbrella Design:** Exploring new and creative ideas for umbrellas, such as the Air Umbrella's use of a steady air canopy. - **Customizable Umbrella Features:** Developing umbrellas with adjustable handle lengths and customizable canopy sizes to fit individual preferences. ### Who This Affects Most - **Outdoor Gear:** Creating disruptive innovations in the outdoor gear industry by incorporating eco-friendly materials and features. - **Fashion Accessories:** Introducing innovative umbrella designs as fashionable and functional accessories. - **Personal Care Products:** Offering customizable umbrella options that cater to individuals' specific needs and preferences for personal protection. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [All-Weather Protection Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weatherman-trek-umbrella.md) - [OLED Weather Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-umbrella.md) - [Space-Inspired Folding Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloombrella.md) - [Rainwater Multifunctional Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/raindrop-1.md) - [Sturdy Heat Relief Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aliz-umbrella.md) - [Rainproof Wheelchair Shells](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mobidry.md) - [Expertly Crafted Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-green-umbrella.md) - [Umbrella-Resembling Playful Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rain-man-lamp.md) - [Connected Dual Functioning Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hulasol.md)
